Kurnool: Roads and buildings minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy performed the bhoomi puja on Monday for the Banganapalle ring road project. The 15-kilometer-long road, being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.50 crore, is expected to be completed within one and a half years.

The minister remarked that the R&B department had weakened during the last five years under the YSRC regime. However, he assured that by next December, road construction across the state would be completed, restoring the department’s former glory. Highlighting efforts to make roads pothole-free, he stated that road repair work worth Rs.861 crore is scheduled for completion by the end of January. He acknowledged delays caused by untimely rains in seven districts but noted that nearly 50 percent of the repairs have already been completed. Additionally, he revealed plans to take up 3,000 kilometers of road construction under the PPP model soon.

Minister Janardhan Reddy also announced the launch of two new APSRTC bus services in Banaganapalle to meet increasing passenger demand. The services were inaugurated at the Banaganapalle bus stand, where the minister inspected the newly introduced RTC buses. One is a super luxury bus service operating between Hyderabad and Banaganapalle, catering to regular travelers. The other is an express service initially planned between Banaganapalle and Tirupati. However, the minister recommended rerouting the express service to Srisailam to accommodate the significant number of devotees traveling from Banaganapalle to the temple town.
