Will it be third time’s a charm?

Richard Pollock is once again vying for the seat as the Liberal Party of Canada candidate for the riding of Windsor West in the April 28 federal election.

Poised to challenge longtime incumbent NDP candidate Brian Masse, the federal drug prosecutor told the Star on Thursday that his goal is to see “Windsor West turn out more voters than it ever has.”

“This election will send a message to the United States and help elect a Liberal government that will protect our jobs, our way of life, our sovereignty — all of which is presently threatened by an unhinged president.”

Having twice fallen short against NDP challenger Brian Masse in the 2002 by-election and 2004 federal election, Pollock is making his third bid for the Liberals in Windsor West.

“Windsor is ground zero for the economic pressures and annexation threats coming from Washington,” Pollock said. “We’re on the front lines and it’s time to dig in.

“Windsor West needs a strong Liberal voice in Ottawa.”

Since 1988, Pollock has worked at the downtown Windsor law firm of Mousseau, DeLuca, McPherson, Prince LLP, where he is now a litigation partner, agent director of public prosecutions, and manager of the prosecution sector.

Improving education and healthcare has also been a “lifelong” passion for Pollock. He holds a degree in Public Administration at the University of Windsor and has served as the chair of the Board of Governors of St. Clair College, the board of Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, as well as the board of the Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare Foundation.

“This is a very different time for Canada and Canadians,” Pollock told the Star. “Canada is under threat. There’s never been a more important election and Mark Carney’s government has a plan to ensure that we are protected.

“Our sovereignty is protected, our economy is protected, and our way of life is protected.”

While in Windsor on Wednesday, Carney promised to build an “all-in-Canada” manufacturing network and pledged $2 billion to protect the automotive sector from tariff threats.

“The biggest issue is who will be the adult in the room when it comes to dealing with Mr. Trump, and only Mr. Carney has the leadership capabilities, the skills and the support of the Canadian people to make that happen,” Pollock said.

“People in Windsor West are intelligent voters. They will vote in the best interest of Canada in this election. The best interests of Canada is a vote for the Liberal party and Mark Carney.”

Pollock, a married father of five who raised his family in Windsor West, said he will spend his campaign knocking on doors, engaging with voters to address their concerns, and making sure their voice is heard in Ottawa as the “MP for Windsor West.”
